First we chose an insect from the RISD Nature Lab and studied the object thoroughly.

I chose the Paper Kite Butterfly.

After sketching out its' appearance from many different angles, I started using wires with different thickness in order to express the butterfly.

I dceided to concentrate more on its segmented abdomen and the delicate patterns on its wings.
